Mine has to be the one and only Flash. Now there was a poster who would make you laugh. Cost me a fortune to keep buying new keyboards due to tea spillage.
"About NT in 2006"
NT was the first forum I ever joined so right from the start it seemed fantastic. Lots of topics, serious and funny, to join in on. As well as HATOs there were Ambo, BiB and others to talk too, ask questions, spar with and yes occasionally defend ourselves against but it was all good fun…..mostly

"Legendary Ambo"
Pongolad - Some say he's an overpaid sex pest, some say that without him, Amsterdam's red light district would have gone bust... All we know is, he was a top notch HATO

back in 2006 when National Traffic surfaced, we were not the first to look at offering HATOs an unofficial platform (nor the last I hasten to add)
I believe the first to do so were Worldwide Police Forums who were then quite amazingly allegedly threatened with legal action!
A really great guy on Worldwide Police Forums, a fella by the name of Jon was basically intimidated and made to feel that he had to shut down his HATO area or there would be consequences!
Sadly - this happened on yet another site - the details of which I know even less about but basically - it was again an early HATO platform, run by a serving HATO I believe and maybe that was the problem - if anybody can pass me more details on that - PLEASE DO!

But basically - in 2006 - national-pcsos had already been running for 2 years, a few T.Os who had nowhere to post their views - had joined. One particular HATO was "TheWanderer" and he told PCSO members about the T.O. role
After a while this WWP furore came to our notice and I approached "TheWanderer" as to whether he thought a separate forums for T.O.s would be a good idea.
So within days we launched "national traffic" and just 'hoped for the best!'

The first couple of months saw a slow but steady flow of new members but most importantly, a lot of these members were HATOs AND quickly became enthusiastic forum members who provided real momentum to the site
You can see their names in the memberlist above and below this text, hehe we definitely enjoyed a colourful but enjoyable and exciting start year. We had our worries of course, we had our problems and hell, we too heard from the Highways Agency - their communication resulted in the DISCLAIMER that you are probably familiar with.

2006 interview
falkor "Jon I heard on the grapevine that
Worldwide Police Forums had a little run in with the Highways Agency the other day"
Jon "You could say that mate"
falkor "Jon - didn't you put up a PAGE on the WWP site showing HATO vehicles and personnel, only to be threatened with legal action?"
Jon "Yeah, we started a forum for discussion about the Highways Agency and in particular for HATOs to come and let off steam, but the Highways Agency weren't having none of it."
falkor "Really?"
Jon "Yep, almost as a reaction to what we did, they instructed HATO's via notices, e-mails etc. that discussion of the "job" would result in disciplinary proceedings, and we don't expect people to risk their jobs for us, of course!"
falkor "Changing the subject for a minute Jon how did WWP forums gets started anyhow?"
Jon "Well you know falkor it's weird, sometimes you wake from a crash out with a nugget of an idea, and that idea was WWP. I created the first one in April 05, but it wasn't a raving success due to a number of my own mistakes which I learnt from. To be honest I missed running the forum and I opened up again in August and I think things through a lot more now now than I did back then!!"
falkor "You woke from a crash out?"
Jon "Yeah after E/T mate - you crash out like"
falkor "So true, I feel like a crash right now actually Jon"

"After the WWP fiasco, where I still stand by Jon and the guys at WWP, Falkor realised I was a HATO and asked if i'd be interested in helping to set up this forum.
"It nearly didn't happen as we looked at what had happened with other HATO related forums.
"I had initial reservations about potential repurcussions, and took a bit of convincing but Falkor kept positive and we decided it would be a professional but fun forum, which our membership has to-date proven can work, apart from the odd couple of serious issues, i'm sure most will agree with us"
