M6 redneck

select to view profile of M6 redneck I carry a Swiss Army Knife, (do not own a leatherman and wont subsidise my employee by getting one, miss the pliers tho), spare contact lenses, plenty of pens and scrap paper and a decent resusi aid. (Plus the under utilised tape). HA issue I carry a lot of rubber gloves and thats it. This all goes on my belt. In coat pocket, (winter only as lightweight has no pockets), debris gloves, wolly hat, (not HA's) fags + lighter. Ready for anything!

Dog lead V. good idea!

Have not been trained to use a crow bar, spill kit, shovel or broom. Despite this oversite have mastered their use and used them with success. Common sense will always rule, and we were schooled in this, (DRA).

If you feel a fire blanket will make a difference you will use it, if not or you are unsure if it will be safe you wont. Cannot really see a reason to remove it and did not even know it should have been. Still got them in our vehicles and for one I am glad. Always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

    alihowe’s interview

Poking around the site one day I discovered that the Big Man also runs a forum for PCSOs. Imagine my delight, a whole new world appeared before me with many more users for my ramblings and incoherent rants to reach.

But in a rare moment of clarity I said to myself, "Do these good folk deserve the Redneck treatment". Not knowing the answer and following the spirit of scientific enquiry I decided to find out. Thus with a brave heart I checked out this interview and now take the time out to recommend it to you.

This brave lady has to deal with all the vagaries society has to offer, armed with only the maglite of discipline; and she has a cool taste in cars. However her cat is far too soft on dogs. Plus there is a picture at the end. Grrrr.

    Mondeoman's Interview

I enjoyed reading mondeomans interview as there was quite a lot of talk about 'behind the scenes' stuff that you wouldn't necasarily assosiate with HATOs work, giving presentations to lorry drivers and fleet groups about the work that traffic officers do, and even better looking at catching them while they are young and giving presentations to school children!!

It was also interesting when he touched on the area of getting abuse from drivers when closing lanes etc on the motorways. You would like not to believe that stuff like that happens, but believe it or not we get that too, you can't block a road without getting abuse whether you're in an ambulance a fire engine or TOV or anything!!

    Tricky's interview

Well first thing first Tricky and Falc devote a fair amount of time to talking about Jacket Potatos, Chinese and thai food so that gets a big thumbs up from me straight away!! And then later on they move onto cheap wine! It gets better and better!! And then Tricky says he prefers the beer!! Is there no stopping this guy?! Oh yeah and there are a few mentions of traffic officers and civil service transfers etc, but I mean after the food wine and beer who cares!!!
