traffic | Charl_Hunter: Don do you traffic officers get any training? I mean is it on the job training or what?
Don: A lot of people wonder about our training. First we get 4 weeks in a classroom learning traffic management theory, law, evidence, health and safety, stuff like that
falkor: He he sounds like a cracking 4 weeks - I would like to do that 4 weeks!
Don: Then after that you do a week on a “mock” motorway at either Throckmorton, or Alconbury airfields
Charl_Hunter: A MOCK MOTORWAY?
Don: Yeah it's an awesome week - we learn to safely carry out manoevers such as reversing up hard shoulders, reversing onto observation platforms and using emergency crossing points and access roads, which most motorists don’t even know exist!
falkor: Blinding - can I come out with you for this?
Don: Not really - I did mine a while back, done and dusted! |
