Congratulations to colleagues who got through the paper sift for the promotion. How would people feel about sharing experiences of the assesment centre? or if anybody is involved in the assesment centre and would like to discuss what is likely to be encountered....

just a thought

Ditto, good luck Colleagues. It would be nice to see Supervisors promoted with a good understanding of our job aswell as Supervisory experience.

Didn't make it to the assessment myself. I have a good idea why before asking for my feedback. I am not surprised but have enjoyed dreaming about a new car, extension on the house etc etc!!

Many of us bleat about our current Supes, it's for that reason that most of us should at least have applied for this promotion. It's a no lose situation, the feedback from the application should be invaluable for future ventures! Dont be too dis-heartened if you tripped at the first hurdle, at least you stepped up to it. I intend trying to continue to be a good TO and who knows what the future will bring.

Anyway, all the best to those through to the next stage.
Take care,
Jock A Wink

Fingers crossed this time.

Congratulations guys. I didn't make it through the sift but no loss really. Have a collegue who didn't either and it's a shame as he'd have made a damn fine super.

I'd be interested to see how the present supervisors role has changed (if at all) since inception, and how these changes have finally justified a change in selection procedure.

...Or has someone in Archie Towers realised that there was a bit of nepotism going on and only certain faces fitted?

I did not even apply so guess I can not moan about who gets it. My normal crewmate put in for it but we have both been on leave so who knows.

There have been a couple at our station who have been acting as if they are already red so will be good to see them brought back down - if that happens.

I only hope that the ones who will make good supers make it and not those that can talk the talk !!

  Good luck to one and all and remember;

“Team leader don’t mean anything mate.”

“Excuse me, it means I’m the leader of a team.”

“No it doesn't-it’s a title someone’s given you to get you to do something they don’t want to do, for free. Right? It’s like making a div kid at school milk monitor. No one respects it.”

“I think they do.”

“No they don’t Gareth.”

“Er, yes they do, because if people were rude to me then I used to give them their milk last, so it was warm.”

  Quick question:

Should one wear uniform, or just the usual interview standard smart dress to the assessment day? Confused

I'd go in my best top hat and tails, with fresh carnation in my Buttonhole.

If that is at the cleaners, I suppose my clown outfit would suffice Wink

Good question. Might be worth phoning HR, but I would say, since its an external agency, I would go in civvies.

Bearing in mind that there are no expenses payable, the more I think about it I would defo go out of uniform Confused Shocked Wink

  Rang AHR today.

You MUST wear either jeans and a football shirt or dungarees. Twisted Evil

Not that I am trying to screw you over or anything!

(Real answer is uniform or civvies choice - honest)
