How often do the HA recruit TO's?

Is it as and when they leave? or is the 6 monthly / yearly recruitment like say the Fire Service or Police

If you register on the highways agency website they will let you know when vacancies come up.

Good luck

The HA operates a waiting list for each outstation and RCC around the country. When there is less than the minimum required on any particular list they will recruit to fill up that list. Applicants can be me on more than one list provided they meet the 1 hour criteria.

In theory this means that when future vacancies become apparent, there are suitable candidates who have passed the recruitment process ready to be employed and sent on the training.

Candidates can only stay on the list for 1 year and then must reapply.

Unless of course the HA extend the waiting period, as they have done for myself and others who reached the 12 month deadline without a job offer arising.

I'm into my 15th month and it just seems to me that my extended period of waiting will pass, as the 12 months did, with not a word from the HA. In my opinion it's no way to run things but they seem not to care about keeping folk dangling on a piece of string.

If the stormtroopers are reading - remember the flowchart you gave me at recruitment? It states - Successful at Assessment Centre > Job Offer Made ................... Where is it??????

Disappointed

It's a pain when we get told our new team member has dropped out of training too, so other teams are being messed around having to cover the missing TO's place on our team.

Annoying that the TLC won't run more induction courses more often, or, here's a wild and wacky idea, get someone recruited, get them fitted for a uniform. Give them a week in the RCC getting all the H&S and hippy tree hugging stuff out of the way, then give them to their new team to get trained up by an outstation's own assessor OKAY that roger

God, I'm just too damn good sometimes! Wink

Oh, you wouldn't like me training and assessing you...

The food would be better than the lunches provided at Quinton for a start Laughing

So why are there so many unfilled vacancies around the country with people sitting on waiting lists?

  Thank god!

How much has been wasted in needlessly paid T&S claims and CO2 pumped out because newbie HATO's have had to trek down to Quinton instead of having a regional trainer based at the RCC with current on road experience teaching them the job?

20 x four weeks worth of T&S plus associated CO2 emissions from the trainees cars

or

1 x four weeks worth of a regional trainer driving a few miles to their place of work?

Indeed, how many prospective HATO's have been put off by being told they've got through the assessment phase and are successful, but they've got four weeks away from home in Brum to do before they get the keys to their outstation Question

  King-spring,

I was on the waiting list exactly a year to the day that i did my assessment centre when i recieved a call from recruitment asking me if i would like a position, erm yes please.
During that 12 months I rang recruitment up every 2 weeks just to see if there was any movement with the positions.
The waiting list is 2 years.

I waited nearly one year there were people on my intake who had waited longer than me and I know of someone who has been waiting longer than me and still has yet to hear
