The Monk and I have decided it would be a great idea to have some sort of secret sign or handshake for all National Traffic members waving Maybe something like that or cuddle . A special whistle, word.....whatever....you decide!!!

So when we meet up we know that we are talking to another member of the forum even if we have never met before!!

Its only for a laugh so post away and lets see what we can come up with......probably the dafter the better but we will see how it goes!! Very Happy

HAVE FUN!!!! all nine

I've met a couple of our members not at my outstation on my travels and this could be useful. Can anyone think of anything?

Perhaps have an update in our foreign phrase book with "I'm a hato please help me".

Or members could offer other crews cups of coffee when they meet - if they accept they must be members and have read this thread, or am I just after free cups of coffee !

Problem is that I would if I knew how to but all the stuff in our phrase book translates to "Hello, I am TRAFFIC POLICE Do you speak English?" - Seriously!

I did a bit of research using http://translation2.paralink.com and the rumours are correct.

A secret handshake's probably not much good if only one of you knows the secret - though may lead to some amusing moments on the hardshoulder. How about:

1. The HA making membership of this forum compulsory, then every non-HATO would know they were speaking with a forum member. OK, probably not...

2. We have our own badge - something obsure like a Blue Peter badge, available on eBay...

3. Colour in one of the HA logos on our ties...

4. Collectively we try and 'out' members. For example, every time you meet one of BiB you ask 'are you Black Rat?' If positive response confirm with secret handshake - if not, run.

Yes, I'm sure the Monk and I have been in the same room at some point recently.

Peace be with him

I think we need a hand made symbol of some sorts, that is so discreet to the untrained eye and yet SO obvious to forum members that there is no need to asking embarrasing questions on scene!

I like the idea gerrof suggested about an HA logo being coloured in... however this will obviously not work for other members like BR and Charl...

So something like a black marker 'dot' for instance in a strategic location on your jacket perhaps?

shake hands with your index and middle finger & thumb only ?
or
black in the H & A letters on the eppoullettes ?? (spell check needed?)
or
a little insignia attatched to your whistle ?
or
wear one black sock & one white sock
or
wear your left eppalette upside down ?
or
some form of tie pin
or
put a clothes peg in the clear plastic sleeve on front of vis/coat

  or
Walk towards a colleague while shaking your right leg and patting the top of your head ,
his/her response would probably be :- head banging against an object of some description [/b]
